Made in Piedmont, Frangelico is a traditional liqueur made from a variety of hazelnuts called Tonda Gentile. Widely used by confectioners around the world, these hazelnuts are renowned for their sweetness. Legend has it that the famous monk and painter Fra Angelico would have distilled hazelnuts in alcohol before infusing the preparation with cocoa, orange blossom and vanilla pods. Everything is matured in oak barrels. The Frangelico bottle pays homage to the legend since its shape evokes a monk’s robe belted by a cord tied at the waist.
